Thérèse is the Regional WASH Advisor for UNICEF in South Asia and leads UNICEF’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programs across eight countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
Originally from Ireland, Thérèse has over 30 years of experience in the WASH sector, working in both humanitarian and development contexts across the globe. With a background in environmental and public health, her work has focused largely on the impacts of sanitation and hygiene interventions on the health and well-being of children and their families. Thérèse is an advocate for community engagement and empowerment and believes that behavior change at all levels is fundamental to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
