Dr. Indranil Mondal is a Landscape Ecologist and wildlife connectivity expert working as a Project Scientist at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), studying how linear infrastructure dissects wildlife habitats and corridors and how GIS can be used to plan wildlife crossing structures to mitigate the negative effects of roads on wildlife movement.

The last 10 years of his conservation career has been dedicated to studying how and where animals, especially large carnivores, move outside protected areas and among human-dominated areas. He also studies human-tiger conflict. He has employed extensive use of GIS technology in his work. Through the output of his research, he has always tried to provide managers with usable tools to tackle conservation problems in Central India.
