Mr. Shigemoto KAJIHARA is the Vice-Minister for Global Environmental A airs, overseeing international a airs including the climate change negotiations at the Ministry of the Environment, Japan. He started his career as a civil servant in 1979. Since then he held various important positions at the Ministry including Director of Public Relations O ce, Minister’s Secretariat; Director of Environmental Impact Assessment Division; and Director of Climate Change Policy Division. Recently, he was Director-General of Waste Management and Recycling Department, and then Director-General of Global Environment Bureau. He graduated from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Urban Engineering.
