Social Protection Innovators Program - Phase 1

23 November 2016 to 25 November 2016

In partnership with GIZ, the ADB’s Social Development Thematic Group will conduct an in-depth course on social protection financing that is highly relevant for strengthening ADB’s support to its developing member countries (DMCs). This training program aims to create within ADB a network of experts who could lead innovative program designs for assisting DMCs in strengthening and expanding their social protection programs and systems.

The intention is to conduct the training in two phases: Phase 1 to be implemented in November 2016, and Phase 2 in April 2017 with continued online communications in between the two phases. Initial discussions with GIZ led to the identification of Indonesia for Phase 1 to take advantage of the learning opportunities from the implementation of major social protection programs in a big middle income country; and Phase 2 in Viet Nam to learn the challenges of a smaller middle income country that has initiated social protection reforms.
